Ignite Brewing Company

In honor of Small Business Saturday coming up on November 28, 2020, we are highlighting an amazing small business, Ignite Brewing Company, located in Barberton, OH! We have asked Ignite's team members a few questions.

SeibertKeck Insurance Partners: What is your small business?

Ignite Brewing Company: Ignite Brewing Company was started with a shared curiosity - how can we make a meaningful impact in our community through craft beer? Ignite Brewing Company is dedicated to leveraging the culture, community, and connections craft beer provides to make a positive, exponential impact in the markets we serve through our mission of Making Beer Make a DifferenceTM.

Ignite is a manufacturing craft brewery and taproom located in historic downtown Barberton, Ohio. As a part of the downtown revitalization, we converted a dormant B.F. Goodrich tire shop on Tuscarawas Avenue and turned it into 5,000 sq. ft. taproom and brewhouse with a 5,000 sq. ft. patio, which is one of the largest outdoor brewery patios in NE Ohio. We have been privileged to win several awards for both our beer and our taproom, including a silver medals at both the 2018 Great American Beer and the 2018 US Beer Open, and a gold medal at the 2019 Ohio Craft Brewers Cup.

Ignite can be found in our taproom and in over 100+ locations in Northeast Ohio on both draft and in 4-pack cans. Ignite had our first retail can release in August 2020, and we currently offer five 4-Pack varieties in select retailers in Northeast Ohio!

SeibertKeck Insurance Partners: What makes your small business unique?

Ignite Brewing Company: We believe our mission of Making Beer Make A DifferenceTM makes us unique. We are driven to make a positive difference in the communities we serve, with our beer as the “spark” for change. We strive to be the catalyst for craft beer lovers to rally together and drive positive change in their community – whether it’s a charity run in the morning, service day around town, or tackling that big project to make meaningful change.

As a key component of our mission, we are committed to giving back 11% of profits to our local communities. To date, with the help of our Ignite community, we have donated over $25,000 to local causes, and during the initial shut down from March-May, the Ignite community donated over 10,000 meals to the Akron Canton Regional Foodbank.

Great Beer – Stronger Communities – Meaningful Impact

SeibertKeck Insurance Partners: Why is it important to support small businesses?

Ignite Brewing Company: Small businesses are truly the backbone of the community, both as an employer but as a community supporter and a driver of economic prosperity. According to the 2016 Census Bureau’s Annual Survey of Entrepreneurs, there were 5.6 million companies that had employees in 2017, and firms that employed 100 or less people made up 98.2% of all companies! (https://sbecouncil.org/about-us/facts-and-data/). Small businesses, along with their local business and merchants’ associations, constantly work together to improve their local communities and schools through events, non-profit support, donation drives, and of course sponsoring sports and community activities.

Craft breweries specifically have long been linked as a key driver to downtown and city revitalization through the creation of jobs, new unique spaces, and the ability to attract new visitors and revenue into town. According to the 2019 Economic Impact Study from the Brewer’s Association, a national trade group for Independent Craft Beer, Ohio ranked 6th for Economic Impact of Craft Beer resulting in $3.4 Billion to include $1.015 Billion in Labor Income.
